New leader of Conservative People's Party selected in Estonia
On Saturday, July 4, Minister of Finance Martin Helme was elected Chairman of the Estonian Conservative People's Party (EKRE). This decision was made at the party congress, broadcast by the country's leading media. The candidacy of Helme, who replaced his father in this post, was supported almost unanimously by 382 delegates of the congress out of 391. According to the news agency, on June 25, Estonian Finance Minister Martin Helme demanded that Kersti Kaljulaid be relieved of his post as president of the country. According to him, the head of state, who abuses power and violates the Constitution, refused to sign the amendments to the law on the diplomatic service adopted by parliament, so she should be removed.
