Al-Shabab claimed responsibility for kidnapping and killing a deputy in Somalia
A member of the Somali regional parliament was abducted and killed by Al-Shabab militants (an organization whose activities are banned in the Russian Federation) near the city of Balad, 30 kilometers north of Mogadishu. This is reported by VOA Somali with reference to local security reports. Mohammed Mohamud Siyad was driving from Jowhar to the Somali capital, Mogadishu, when he was abducted on Sunday, July 5, according to sources. The car in which Siyad was driving was stopped by kidnappers near the village of Gololey, north of Balad. Officials are confident that the legislator was killed shortly after he was taken out of the vehicle. After which the militants drove the car off the road.
